What a wonderful morning to wake up to with the sun trying to come out and a crisp 37 degrees. We are on our way to Starbucks for a tea and scone and then head for the state line and into Wisconsin for some apple picking!
When you arrive it is like a little village where you can eat and can pick apples and pumpkins. Today there was a school group there on some sort of field trip... glad I wasn't in charge! Remember, this is a vacation. I don't teach anymore. Anyway, you pay a fee to get in
and they give you a plastic bag and off you go with a map that indicates which rows of trees are of what variety...Gala, Fuji, Rome, Golden etc. Many kinds I had never heard of. You just walk through the
rows sampling as you go. That's right, you find a tree that looks good, pick an apple, shine it up on your pants or sweater and then take a bite. If you like it, well then -- pick some more. If not, just chuck it on the ground with all the other discarded "samples."
It was a great day and tomorrow night Patience is making us an apple pie!
